Toad River

Toad River is a small settlement located at Mile 422 of the Alaska Highway.  It is approximately 200 km west of Fort Nelson.  Originally a highway maintenance camp with a service stop for travellers, Toad River now has a population under 100.  A number of residents still work for highway maintenance and the service station includes a restaurant, post office, Greyhound bus stop and gas station.  There is also a small school and a community hall.  Toad River is located in an absolutely beautiful section of the Northern Rockies and has an abundance of wildlife, mountains and rivers.
