Burns Lake

Called the Gateway to the Lakes District and it’s true.  We are actually the heart of the Lakes District and the Gateway to North Tweedsmuir Provincial Park.

Tweedsmuir Park, the largest in BC, is accessible only by air, water or foot. However, visitors can drive to Francois, Ootsa, Tchesinkut, to name just a few.

The Nanika-Kidprice Canoe Route starts nearby, or access Babine Lake’s south shores which is the largest natural lake in BC. Deadman’s Island, the smallest Provincial site in BC, is accessible only by water on Burns Lake itself.  Visitors should take the free ferry across Francois Lake to explore and enjoy the quaint communities on the Southside.

Visit the museum, the Native Art Gallery, Nourse Creek Falls, Nadina Fisheries, Pinkut Artificial Spawning Grounds, Tintagel Cairn and Eagle Creek Agate and Opal Site.

Local Mill Tours are also offered and the Burns Lake Walking Tour takes visitors through time to restored historical buildings.

A hotel and several motels greet visitors and RV resorts and campgrounds are numerous to cater to highway travelers.
