Northwest Region
The Northwest region stretches from the Skeena River in the South to the Cassiar Mountains in the North and offers some of the most awe-inspiring scenery and wildlife on the continent. An abundance of wild rivers, deep canyons, magnificent glaciers, clear lakes and pristine areas distinguish the region.
Visit the famous Bear Glacier, one of the few blue glaciers with the most easiest access in the world. Also, take a walk on one of the hiking trails that reveal the evidence of old gold and silver mines as they take one on a walk through the magnificent coastal forest, mountain streams and alpine meadows.
Nestled amidst breathtaking mountains and rushing rivers lies home to the treasured but elusive Kermode bear. Incredible bear viewing can be found in the Khutzeymateen Valley—home to Canada's only grizzly bear sanctuary.
From canoeing to hiking, skiing to fishing, there isn¹t a season where you won¹t find a variety of activities in which to participate.
The Stewart-Cassiar (Highway 37) connects the communities of the region and offers an excellent alternate route and a shorter trip for visitors traveling to or from the Yukon and Alaska.
With a relaxed pace, warm-hearted people, magnificent scenery, and recreational opportunities galore, you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable experience in the Northwest.
